BOOK ONE

Capital Gains

How Families Keep More of Every Investment

Most investing books focus on what to buy. This book focuses on what happens after you already own the investment — when, how, and by whom it should be sold.

Through practical examples and a simple decision-making framework, Umesh Jindal explains how families can think about holding appreciated investments, realizing gains, choosing tax lots, harvesting losses, and considering who should realize a gain.

One idea to remember:Decide before you sell — not after.

THE SIX-BOOK SYSTEM

One lifetime. Six parts of the wealth equation.

The books are designed to work together — from accumulating wealth to spending it, protecting it, and ultimately passing it on.

THE WEALTH ENGINEERING APPROACH

Think like an engineer, not just a taxpayer.

A tax decision rarely exists by itself. Before an investment is sold, a family can ask several questions: Do we need to sell? Who should realize the gain? When should it happen? Which shares should be sold? Would holding, gifting, or donating produce a better long-term result?

Wealth engineering means coordinating those choices before the taxable event occurs.
